Good questions.
Clear answers.
From joining your family to paying out a reward, here are the details that make DoneUp easier to settle into.
Joining & your family
Does my child need an email address?
No. Kids join using a link from a grown-up, the household ID and a 4-digit PIN, or a code that a grown-up scans on the kid’s device. They do not create an account or give an email address. Each kid can use up to three devices.
Can two grown-ups manage the same family?
Yes. Each home has one or two grown-ups. Give the second grown-up full access, or approvals-only access so they can approve chores or send them back with a note. One family plan covers both grown-ups and all your kids.
Is DoneUp suitable for teenagers?
Yes. DoneUp is designed for ages 6 to 17. Younger kids get a picture-first layout. Ages 10 to 13 get the standard layout, and teens get more grown-up pictures and wording with the same features.
Which devices can we use?
DoneUp runs on iPhone and Android phones, with tablets supported. Each kid can use up to three devices. Age-appropriate layouts support kids from about 6 to 17.
Chores, money & rewards
Does DoneUp transfer money to my child?
DoneUp keeps a record of the real money your child has earned. When you approve a chore, its value is added to their balance. When a reward is ready, a grown-up provides the cash, buys the gift card or arranges the activity. DoneUp does not automatically transfer money or buy gift cards.
What happens when a reward is requested?
If a priced reward is affordable, its amount is held so it cannot be spent twice. A grown-up provides the reward, or chooses “not yet” to release that amount back to the available balance. Some rewards have no price and simply need a grown-up’s yes.
Does the screen-time timer block apps?
No. It tracks earned minutes while a kid uses them. It does not block apps, lock the device or control what your child can open. Your family agrees on the screen-time rules.
Are penalties required?
No. Your family chooses whether to use them. If enabled, a grown-up can choose a preset or custom penalty. It is limited to the available balance and can be undone with one tap. A kid’s balance never goes below zero.
Can a chore be sent back?
Yes. If something still needs doing, a grown-up can send the chore back with a note. Kids are notified when a chore is approved or sent back.
Can my kids suggest their own chores?
Yes. Kids can suggest a chore or a reward. A grown-up can post it with a price or say no.
